Family Canoeing and Naming Event
Niishanax’! Tribal members and families are invited to gather at Munsel lake June 13, 2026 to try out our family canoes for the peliich minch (first time)! With there being xats’uun (four) siixai (canoes) that are new to us, participants of 12 and up will have the opportunity to pull in chmanii (cousin, Family) canoes, and participants of all ages the opportunity to learn about tribal canoe traditions, and enjoy a day focused on heritage, teamwork, and family fun.
The event will include naming of the 4 family canoes, build your own sandwich sack lunch, hands-on learning opportunities, and time to connect with fellow tribal member family. Whether you are an experienced puller or pulling for the first time, everyone is welcome to observe, participate and support one another.
Guests are encouraged to bring weather-appropriate clothing, water, snacks, and a positive spirit for the day’s activities. Safety equipment and guidance will be provided.
