Restoration Day Site Visit & Naming Poll

October 14, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 11:30 am

  • « Elders Tribe to Seven Feathers & Wildlife Safari
  • 39th Restoration Celebration »

In a significant step towards preserving cultural heritage and acknowledging the rich history of the land, a Naming Poll is set to take place during the Tribal Restoration event. This event will focus on promoting the renaming of the Waite Ranch and the seven forestry tracts. The day’s activities will include an informative session on the history of Waite Ranch, a site visit, a tour of an ongoing restoration project, and a discussion about the renaming process.
The Event Schedule:
9:00 AM – Carpooling to Waite Ranch
Carpooling services will be provided from the Three Rivers Casino
starting at 9:00 AM.
10:00 AM – Visiting Waite Ranch
The Department of Cultural and Natural Resources (DCNR) will lead in sharing the stories and history of Waite Ranch. Through engaging presentations, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the cultural significance of this land. The event will also include a site visit and tour of an ongoing restoration project, and a firsthand look at efforts to restore and gain Tribal access to the natural environment.
Renaming Waite Ranch
This is an opportunity for the community to come together and make a decision that reflects the values, aspirations, and cultural significance of that place. Community members are encouraged to
share their thoughts, suggestions, and personal connections to the land, creating a platform for open dialogue and collective decision making. The Naming Poll during the Tribal Restoration event will take place at the language table.
11:30 AM – Return to Three Rivers Casino for Restoration Celebration
Attendees will be shuttled back to the Three Rivers Casino, where the Restoration Celebration will take place at Noon.
